Assassins Creed Valhalla PS4- Game Crashing FIXED / CE-34878-0 Error Code

The wait is over , Assassin;s Creed Valhalla is finally here . Ubisoft as always did an amazing job with the game. It is the 22nd release in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The game is set in AD 873 and based on the Vikings invading Britain. The visuals are pretty impressive to be honest. However the Playstation users have complained about the game crashing now and then and even on startup, normally with an error code of CE-34878-0. So how do we get this fixed?

Assassins Creed Valhalla PS4- Game Crashing FIXED / CE-34878-0 Error Code

There could be many reasons why a game might crash. The hard part is to pinpoint the exact cause of it. So what we can do is eliminate all the factors which could possibly cause the game to crash.

Try Deleting the Saved Data for Valhalla on your database :

A bit of a gamble I must say. Corrupted saved data could very well lead to the game crashing when you try to save it or during Auto saving as well which is pretty frequent. It can even crash on startup since the file will not be loaded. Deleting the saved data could help you fix the issue . But it comes at a cost of losing your progress in game for the story mode. But obviously it is better to play fresh with no crash at all.

  • Go to Settings on you Console Menu
  • Then select the option Storage
  • you will get a detailed storage list. Select Saved Data from there
  • Then select Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla from the list and press the button for Options Menu
  • On the right side select the Delete option
  • Then select the saved data or if there are multiple then select all then hit Delete again .
  • The saved data will be now be deleted from your storage.

Clearing PlayStation 4 Caches and Rebuilding the Database :

Database issues could lead to the game crashing. Rebuilding the database should do the trick. So how do we go ahead with it.

  • Turn Off your console completely
  • Look at the back side of your console. You will see a power chord which looks like this :

  • You need to take it out and leave it unplugged for 1 minute .This clears the Cache .
  • You need to plug it back now and then keep holding the power button for about 10 secs. You will be able to hear a beep when you hold it and then one more beep after 8 or 10 seconds. This is when you let go of the power button. This will boot the console in Safe Mode.
  • Now you need to plug in your Controller directly with the USB cable and then press the PS button on it. This will be prompted on the screen too.
  • From the list that appears on your screen select Rebuild Database and hit OK.
  • Doing this for the first time takes a while. However If you have done it before it should get over quickly.

Reinstalling the Game could help:

Re- installing the game often fixes any kind of problems regarding crash. A fresh installation might do the trick. This is how its done :

  • Select Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and press the button for Options Menu.
  • From the list that appears on the screen select Delete and then press OK.
  • Then go to Libarary
  • Select Purchased
  • Select Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla from the list and hit Download on the left side of you screen.

Try Disabling the Face Recognition feature:

Face recognition feature on the Playstation 4 is one of the reasons certain games crash with the error CE-34878-0. This is how we disable it :

  • Go to Settings on you Console Menu
  • Select Login Settings
  • Uncheck the box next to Enable Face Recognition
  • Restart your console.

Lastly try Initializing Your PS4 :

Initializing your PS4 should be a last resort as it completely re installs the OS which resets everything. But always backup your saved data before you do it . This is how you backup saved data :

  • Go to Settings on you Console Menu
  • Scroll down a bit and select Application Saved Data Management
  • Then hit Saved Data in System Storage from the list.
  • Then select Upload to Online Storage
  • A list of games appear. Then press the Options button on the controller and select Select Multiple Applications.
  • After that you will get an option to Select All on the right side. Hit the option and select Upload which should be at the bottom right of your screen.
  • On getting a prompt for override ,check the box for Apply to All and select Yes .
  • This will store only the saved data for the game on your Cloud storage.

After you back up your saved data to an online storage you can now try to initialize your PS4. This is how it is done :

  • Go to Settings on you Console Menu
  • Scroll to the bottom select Initialization
  • You will get two options Quick and Full
  • Full Initialization normally takes few hours .We recommend you to select Full and not Quick.

Now you can bring back your Valhalla saved data from the cloud back to your hard drive once more. You just need to download the game and follow these steps :

  • Go to Settings on you Console Menu
  • Go down and select the option Application Saved Data Management
  • Then hit Saved Data in Online Storage from the list that appears.
  • Then select Download to System Storage
  • Select Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla from the list
  • Now you just need to select the saved data and hit Download which should be there at the bottom of your screen.

Hopefully if you follow these steps it should help you out with any crash related problems with Valhalla . Enjoy the game.
