Cyberpunk 2077 XBox One – Crashing/ Freezing Error FIXED

There are a few steps which we need to follow in order to fix any freezing or crashing related problems regarding Cyberpunk 2077 since determining the exact cause is a bit tough.

Removing your Cyberpunk 2077 Saved File from your Console and Cloud

A corrupted saved file could very well be the culprit. But deleting the saved file from your console only wont actually solve the problem. We need to remove it from the cloud as well because if you have the corrupted file saved on cloud the game will always crash even after deleting locally. XBox Live automatically saves on the cloud so that you can access it if you lose your local saves in anyway.

  • Press XBox button which brings up the side menu
  • Select My Games & Apps
  • Select See All
  • On the right side select the game you want. For now you select Cyberpunk 2077 and press the menu button on your controller with 3 lines
  • You will see a list of options. Select Manage games & add-ons
  • Scroll down to Saved Data
  • Do not Select Delete All as it will delete all local saves only. Select the saved file you want to delete and hit the menu button on the controller again. Select Delete Saved Data
  • Now you will get a prompt asking if you want to Delete From Console or Delete Everywhere. Select Delete Everywhere. This will remove the saved file from your console and cloud as well.

Clearing Alternate MAC Address (Optional):

The Alternate MAC Address is empty by default. But in case you have an Alternate MAC Address added you can follow these steps. At times two devices with the same MAC Address may try to connect which may lead to network issues , freezing and even crashing. This is how you clear it :

  • Go to Settings
  • Then select General
  • Then select Network Settings
  • After that select Advanced Settings
  • Select Alternate MAC Address
  • Select Clear
  • Then hit Restart

Clearing Cache or Persistent Storage :

Cached Data could also cause problems in the console. It is better to clear Cached Data once in a while. This is how it is done :

  • Go to Settings
  • Select Devices & Streaming
  • Select Blu-ray on the right side
  • You will get a list of options. Select Persistent Storage
  • Then hit Clear Persistent Storage

If in case you do not have the Blu-ray option under Devices & Streaming this is what you need to do :

  • Power Off your console completely. For this keep holding the power button until you do not see anymore lights on the console.
  • From the back of your XBox you need to unplug everything including the power cable.
  • Wait for like 5 minutes and then plug it back and turn On the console.
  • If you see a green screen with the XBox One Logo then you have done it correctly and the cached data is now cleared

Making more Space on your Console :

At times you might have DLCs installed on the console even after you have removed the game . This is rare but it can interfere with current games causing performance issues like freezing and crashing. So you can follow these simple steps :

  • Press XBox button which brings up the side menu
  • Select My Games & Apps
  • Select See All
  • Click on Manage and then Manage Storage from the right side
  • Now you need to select Make more space
  • You will get two more options. Select Leftover add-ons .
  • This will clear any DLC pack or any data related to a game which you have removed.

Re-Installing Cyberpunk 2077 on your XBox One :

  • Select Installed and on the right select the game and hit the menu button again.
  • Select Uninstall
  • The game will now be removed from the console.
  • You can then re download the game again like before.

Resetting The Console :

Resetting the Console comes as a last resort . It will remove all the save data, games and every settings you have locally. The saved games will be there in the cloud storage . You will have to re download the games again. In order to back it up on an external storage follow these steps :

  • Press XBox button which brings up the side menu
  • Select My Games & Apps
  • Select See All
  • Click on Manage and then Manage Storage from the right side
  • You will see both Internal Storage and External Storage Option on the right side

  • Then go to System
  • Select Console Info
  • Hit Reset Console
  • You will get two options Reset and remove everything and Reset and keep my games & apps. You will select Reset and remove everything.
  • This will remove all data from you XBox and reset the OS completely. So any corrupted files will also be removed.
  • You can later on transfer back your games from the external drive or just re download if you did not back it up .
  • You will get your saves from cloud once you are connected to Xbox Live .

Hopefully these steps will help you out with any freezing or crash related issues on your XBox One. Enjoy the game.
