As eager as we are to play the new Madden NFL 21, getting an error at download or your download freezing is perhaps the most annoying thing that can happen.
With that being said lets us quickly see how we can fix any problem regarding downloading the game on Steam.
Madden NFL 21 Steam – Not Downloading / Download Error Fix
Wait a while:
At times there would not be any issue at all and we would just need to wait before Steam allocates the disk space. The game is like a 50GB and it takes a certain amount of time before the download is actually ready. So just wait, be patient. If it takes more than like 5-10 minutes (at max) and you still don’t see the download starting you can follow the steps below.
Restart Steam and Computer:
You can restart Steam first and see if that works. This should fix the problem for most known cases. If not then you can try restarting your system.
Restarting the system would clear out all kinds of system caches and resets the system state along with all the other programs.
Clear Download Cache:
This would let the Steam client erase locally cached configuration data and receive it from the Steam servers again :
- Open Steam Client
- Go to the Steam option located on the top left of your client.
- Click on Settings.
- On the Left, Panel click on Downloads
- Then Click on Clear Download Cache
Repair Steam Library Folder:
Your steam folder needs user permission for access. It needs to be writable by all users. Sometimes these user permissions don’t work which breaks off the links and it needs to be reset. Here is how you do it.
- Open Steam Client
- Go to the Steam option located on the top left of your client.
- Click on Settings.
- On the Left, Panel click on Downloads
- Click on Steam Library Folders
- Right-click on the folder you have Steam installed and select Repair Library Folder
Change Download Region:
Steam has servers divided into specific geographic regions which help users get faster download speeds and faster performance. Sometimes the servers in this region could be blocked due to a technical issue or maybe overloaded which could make it slower.
In such cases, steam gives us the option to change our servers to any region of our choice from the list of steam servers all over the world. If the download is stuck, we can change the server and see if it resumes or not. Here is how.
- Open Steam Client
- Go to the Steam option located on the top left of your client.
- Click on Settings.
- On the Left, Panel click on Downloads
- Under Download Region you have a drop-down arrow that you need to click and scroll. Select a region of your choice (you have to try multiple regions to choose from. Try them out and see which works best)
- Restart Steam.
Re-install Steam:
If the issue still persists then Re-installing Steam might help. Here is how you do it.
- Type Control Panel on your windows search bar.
- Select Programs and Features
- Look for Steam and Right Click on it and select Uninstall
- You can Reinstall Steam from here
These steps will definitely solve any downloading-related issues you are facing on Steam. Enjoy the game.
