This guide will help you fix any crash related issues with Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered for PC . It could either be on startup or midway through the game.

Marvel’s Spider-Man PC – Game is Crashing | How to Fix Crash

It was the 7th of September 2018 when the entire PC race looked down in disappointment as the PlayStation users downloaded Marvel’s Spider-Man. A PlayStation Exclusive is something we PC gamers do not like to hear. However, what gave us the power to move on was the little ray of hope that we had about playing the game on PC maybe after a year or two.

Better late than never, as Marvel’s Spider-Man is finally ported to PC after a 4 year long wait. The moment I saw the game in E3 I couldn’t help but become a fan of it. And till now I believe the game was extremely well developed. The Remastered version of it came a year later for the PlayStation 5 and we are lucky to get that version on PC.

There are a lot of visual enhancements including a completely re worked Peter Parker. The game looks and feels amazing too. But, unfortunately games which are generally ported to PC shows a lot of performance issues. The game kept crashing for users either at startup or mid game. We do have some fixes which could actually solve this problem for most users. Let us walk through them together.

Can Your PC Run Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered ?

This is the first and perhaps the most crucial point. There are a lot of users out there who would be trying to run a game on a system incapable of running it. trying to force run the game would only cause performance issues. The game might even end up crashing or it wont even launch.

MINIMUM:

    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
    • Processor: Intel Core i3-4160, 3.6 GHz or AMD equivalent
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 950 or AMD Radeon RX 470
    • DirectX: Version 12
    • Storage: 75 GB available space

RECOMMENDED:

    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
    • Processor: Intel Core i5-4670, 3.4 Ghz or AMD Ryzen5 1600, 3.2 Ghz
    • Memory: 16 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB or AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB
    • DirectX: Version 12
    • Storage: 75 GB available space

This is what you need to run this game according to Steam. If you  have a setup equivalent or just a little better than the minimum requirements you would be able to run the game. However, for the best performance along with visuals you would need a setup similar to the recommended or better.

Make sure you have the latest Build for your Windows 10 (64 bit):

It is high time you get your windows 7 and 8 users should get upgraded to 10.  The game would run only on Windows 10 (64 bit) and  would require build 1909 as well. To check your Windows build follow these steps :

  • Type Winver on the desktop search bar.
  • Now click on the app the appears

19043.1526 is the build which I have at the moment and the game runs smoothly on my PC.

Also make sure you have the latest windows updates installed. Windows 10 receives a lot of updates and there could be bugs in them. Which are fixed by more updates. So if you haven’t updated there could be a possibility that your Windows version could be crashing the game.

  • Type Settings on the desktop search bar.
  • Go to Update & Security.
  • Then select the option Check for updates.
  • Wait for any pending updates.
  • Install the updates.
  • Restart the PC.

Graphics Drivers Update :

Also make sure you have you graphics driver updated to the latest build. An old driver could prevent the game from functioning smoothly.

Latest Microsoft Visual Studio Required :

Are you getting a message “vcruntime140_1.dll missing” or “MSVCP140.dll was not found” on crash ? Well, this means that you do not have the latest version of  Visual C++ redistributable. Try downloading it from here.

Is the Game Running on your Integrated GPU :

This is a pretty common issue with laptop users. Most of the time games by default would run on the integrated GPU instead of the the dedicated GPU of the system. This could easily result in the game crashing because integrated GPUs are not that powerful to handle a game like the Marvel’s Spider-Man.

  • Type Graphics on the desktop search bar.
  • Now click on Graphics Settings
  • Under the option  Graphics Performance Preference click on Browse
  • Select Marvel’s Spider-Man from the installed directory
  • Now click on Options and select High Performance

This would launch the game on the Dedicated GPU, and it would no longer crash.

Overclocking could be the problem :

Overclocking, no matter how fun it may be could seriously impact gaming performance. It could lead to a crash midway or even on startup. Overclocking software or applications like MSI Afterburner and Zotac Firestorm do not work well with games these days. Therefore, I would suggest not to overclock your CPUs or GPUs and run them on their default speeds.

Did you Verify the game files for Marvel’s Spider-Man ?

There could be a possibility of corrupted or missing game files being the reason for the random crashes. Steam allows you to run a verification check on the game folder to see if any file went missing or got corrupted.

  • Open Steam and go to Library
  • Now select Marvel’s Spider-Man from the left panel.
  • Now right click on the game and select Properties.
  • Select Local Files
  • Now click on Verify Integrity of Game Files.
  • This will take a while. Re Launch the application.

I hope these steps would definitely help you fix the problem. If it doesn’t then you could try Re-Installing the game as a last resort. If the issue still persists then it would probably be fixed by a patch from the developers.

Well, that is it on how you could easily fix any crash related issues with Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PC.
