Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin – Crash Fix | Game keeps Crashing

Monster Hunter 2 is a perhaps the most awaited RPG title of 2021 so far. Well, compared to its predecessor the game does feel a little off but hey, we are talking about Monster Hunter here. No matter what the game would always be engaging. It release for both Switch and PC with the Switch version of the game doing pretty well in terms of performance. However the PC vesion would probably let you down as the game keeps crashing for a lot of users . So how do we fix it? That is what we are here for.

First let me tell you this that the game uses Denuvo Anti-Tamper DRM which probably could be the reason for the random crashes. Denuvo is basically an anti privacy technology used by games and is know to bring down performance to a huge extent.

There could be several other reasons for the game crashing all the time. Since we cannot pinpoint the exact reason we would have to rely on eliminating all the possible causes.

Drivers and Microsoft C++ Redistributable :

Firstly make sure that you have updated video drivers along with Microsoft C++ Redistributable. Check the links given below :

64 Bit OS Required :

Normally we tend to ignore the system requirements for a game. A lot of us try to force run a game. Let me tell you this that this game requires you to have a 64 bit OS. Or else the game would just keep crashing if you try to run it on a 32 bit Operating System.

MINIMUM:

    • OS: WINDOWS 10 (64-BIT Required)
    • Processor: Intel Core™ i5-3470 3.20 GHz or AMD FX-6300 or better
    • Memory: 4 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 / 2GB VRAM or AMD Radeon RX 560 / 2GB VRAM
    • DirectX: Version 11
    • Storage: 28 GB available space
    • Sound Card: DirectSound compatible (must support DirectX 9.0c or higher)

RECOMMENDED:

    • OS: WINDOWS 10 (64-BIT Required)
    • Processor: Intel Core™ i5-4460 3.20 GHz or AMD FX-8300 or better
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 / 2GB VRAM or AMD Radeon RX 560 / 2GB VRAM
    • DirectX: Version 11
    • Storage: 28 GB available space
If you check the Steam Page of  Monster Hunter Stories 2 you will be able to see for yourself.

Verify Game Files or Re Install the game :

There could be a possibility that during download a file or two went missing. This could easily cause the game to crash. Even corrupted files could be the culprit. We cannot manually look for them in the game files therefore steam allows us to run a check on the in game files. This is how its done.

  • Go to Library on Steam
  • Select Monster Hunter Stories 2 : Wings of Ruin from your games list.
  • Right click on the game and select Properties
  • Now click on Local files tab
  • Then click on Verify Integrity of game files

This will take a while depending on the size of the game. Since this game is not that heavy it should not take so long. Any corrupted or missing file will be re downloaded and installed. If this does not fix the issue try Re-Installing or Re-Downloading the entire game again. At times a fresh installation could do the trick. But make sure you Install to a new location.

Hopefully these simple steps should help- fix any crash related issues. Like I said before Denuvo could also be the reason. If that be the case then it less likely these steps would make a difference . You would probably have to wait for the developers to fix this problem then.
