Mortal Kombat 1 is the reboot we all wanted. Everything about the game feels fresh and exciting except for the Invasions mode. It is tedious, but you have to grind if you love customizations. The mode unlocks skins and gears which is something not that easy to obtain in MK1.
The Invasions mode has some pretty difficult boss fights. One of them is the Dark Star Johnny Cage who makes life extremely difficult for challengers. So here is a guide that will help you beat him easily in Mortal Kombat 1 Invasions mode.
Mortal Kombat 1 (MK1)- How to Beat Dark Star Johnny Cage in Invasions
Johnny Cage is one of those characters who is extremely difficult to punish. The mode adds the armor moves and special abilities to the character making him a really tough boss to beat. There will be 4 stages to the fight:
Stage 1:
This is the phase where he armors through most of your moves. Make sure you have a high attack rating to get the most out of your hits. Don’t commit too much and try to use more uppercuts. With a good attack rating uppercuts will do tons of damage and they are really easy to pull off against the AI.
Also, make sure you don’t repeat a move more than 3 times in a row. Johnny would block it easily and start punishing you from the fourth time.
Stage 2:
This is where Johnny clicks a photo on his cell phone at the beginning of the round and flashbangs you blinding you temporarily. During this phase, all you will be seeing is a white light on your screen except for the green glowing arms of Johnny. That is how you understand where he is.
The best way to deal with him during the flashbang phase is to keep blocking low and whenever he comes near you, uppercut him. It won’t last long as you quickly recover from the flash and start fighting normally again.
Stage 3:
This is the stage I hate the most. You need to put your dodging skills to the test here.
The pattern is really simple. You need to jump to avoid the lower projectiles and then duck immediately to dodge the higher ones. Keep repeating the same sequence until the stage ends. There is no specific format but you just need to keep one thing in mind you cannot stand still at any given time. You are either jumping or ducking.
Stage 4:
This is the final stage and Johnny appears in front of you wearing a green shield like the one you see on Baraka in the picture above. However, Johnny’s shield is way stronger and he would be armoring through every attack.
So the best way to deal with armored Johnny is to keep away and chip him now and then. Don’t do full string or you will get punished. Uppercuts again will be a good option. When you see the armor disappear keep attacking him to end the fight.
