If Dark Souls was good for you this game will feel the same way. Almost like a Dark Souls twin Mortal Shell is an action RPG game which is like its twin is pretty difficult. Enemies are tough to beat and the game has that dark mysterious feel to it.

However users did find performance issues with the game. Lag, Fps Drops and Stutters here and there ruined gameplay . Let see how we can get this fixed

System Requirements :

The game looks impressive to be honest and we do require a decent PC to run it quite smoothly . Make sure you have atleast the minimum requirements for the lowest possible settings . If not then you have to get a hardware upgrade done.


    • OS: Windows 7 SP1 or newer (64 bit)
    • Processor: Intel Core i5-4590 or AMD FX 8350
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290
    • Storage: 40 GB available space

    • OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)
    • Processor: Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7
    • Memory: 16 GB RAM
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX Vega 56
    • Storage: 40 GB available space

Disable X Box Game Bar (Windows 10) :

The X Box Game Bar is known to have caused performance issue in games in the past. Not sure how much this would affect the performance in Mortal Shell but it recommended by us to keep it turned off. Here is how you do it :

  1. Open Windows 10 Settings menu
  2. Click on Gaming
  3. Select Xbox Game Bar from the left sidebar
  4. Turn it Off
  5. Restart your game

Update Drivers :

Once you have met the minimum requirements for the game you need to make sure the drivers are updated . You can update your drivers from here :

In- Game Settings :

Set the in-game visual settings in this way to get maximum performance. Remember to always select your native monitor resolution . For example if you have a 1080p monitor play on 1920*1080  :

Display :

  • Resolution – 1920×1080 (Your native monitor resolution)
  • Display Mode – Fullscreen
  • Framerate – Unlimited
  • V-Sync – No

Visual Effects :

  • Motion Blur – No
  • Indie Mode – No
  • Film Grain – No

Graphics Settings :

  • Resolution Scale – 100% (or lower if you are increasing your resolution above the native one)
  • HDR – No (Always select NO even if the monitor is HDR enabled)
  • Shadow Quality – Low
  • Texture Quality – Medium
  • View Distance Quality – Medium
  • Effects Quality – Medium
  • Foliage Quality – High
  • Post Processing Quality – Medium
  • Anti-Aliasing Quality – Medium
Nvidia Control Panel :

[Note: This is for Nvidia users only]

  • Open Nvidia Control Panel
  • Click on Manage 3D settings on the left bar
  • Click on the Program Settings tab
  • Locate Mortal Shell from the drop down menu under “Select a program to customize”
  • If you cannot find it on the list then click on the Add button and another list will appear
  • If you still don’t see Mortal Shell then you need to add the .exe file manually. Just click on Browse
  • Locate the folder where you have installed the game
  • Select the executable file or the .exe file which in this case should be Mortal Shell.exe
  • Once added the program settings will now be available for the game
  • Now make the following changes:
    Monitor Technology : G-Snyc (if available)
    Maximum pre-rendered frames : 2
    Threaded Optimization : On
    Power Management : Prefer Maximum Performance
    Texture filtering – Quality : Performance
