Outriders -How to Fix Lag / FPS Drop / Stuttering | Performance Guide

Lowering the graphics settings is one thing. Sure it will get your performance up. But what if you own a high end machine and it still lags? This is what worries you. Honestly such issue are always addressed by patches . However you can try these steps if you are having performance issues with this game :

Having the Right Setup :

The most important thing we need to know is that we should have the right setup to run a particular game. trying to run a game on a system which is not compatible will only lead to performance issues. Like I said before , if you are having lag and fps drops even with a decent machine then you can follow the steps that come after this. Just to know it better here are the System Requirement for Outriders :

Minimum:

    • OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)
    • Processor: Intel I5-3470 / AMD FX-8350
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 750ti / AMD Radeon R9 270x
    • DirectX: Version 11
    • Storage: 70 GB available space

Recommended:

    • OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)
    • Processor: Intel i7-7700 / AMD Ryzen 5 1600
    • Memory: 16 GB RAM
    • Graphics: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 6GB / AMD Radeon RX 480 8GB
    • DirectX: Version 12
    • Storage: 70 GB available space

Having a system setup somewhere between minimum and recommended will help you run the game but it will not give you the smoothest experience. Recommended setup or higher is what you basically need to have to best experience with this game.

Must have Up to Date GPU Drivers :

When it comes to performance video drivers are next in line of importance. AAA games often get dedicated video drivers which fixes performance issues and helps the game run much smoother. Be sure to check the link below to update your GPU drivers.

Must have Overlays Turned Off :

Even though Overlays are pretty useful. When it comes to performance they do not seem to work well. They interfere with the game causing frequent FPS drops. Some overlays require background processes which takes up a lot of Disk Space . This reduces performance to a huge extent. Therefore we recommend that you have these overlays turned off.

NVIDIA Overlay :

  • Start Nvidia Geforce Experience
  • Select Settings icon from the top right
  • Select the General Tab
  • Turn Off In-Game Overlay

  • If you check the bottom of the discord window you will find three option.  Mute , Deafen and User Settings

Verifying In game files for Outriders on Steam :

At times there could be missing or corrupted files which could prevent the game from performing well enough . Steam allows you to check for such files. Any missing or corrupted file will be redownloaded and installed.

  • Open Steam Client
  • On the top select Library and then click on Home
  • Now from the left panel select Outriders
  • Right click on the game and select Properties
  • Now from the left select the Local Files tab
  • Then Click on “Verify integrity of game files”
  • Time taken will depend on the size of the game.

There you go. Simple steps which could actually make quite a lot of difference performance wise. However if the issue still persists then waiting for a patch would be the best thing to do.
