If you are looking for a proper guide to help you fix performance issues with Redout 2, then you have come to the right place.
Redout 2 – How to Fix Lag and Stuttering
We all waited for the game to be released on the 26th of May but however, but the release date was changed and it is finally out for all platforms on the 16th of June 2022.
Redout 2 claims to be “the fastest racing game in the universe”. Takes place in 2589 where racing through dystopian wastelands on semi-abandoned earth is the most renowned sporting event.
The races happen on magnetic tracks in an anti-gravity atmosphere at impossible speeds which makes the game feel super intense. You not only get a single-player campaign but also a 12-player online multiplayer mode as well.
There are loads of customization to n work on which in turn affects your racing performance. There are 12 distinct chassis with different attributes as well as the freedom to fully customize every part of your hover ship.
Ways to Fix Lag, FPS Drops, and Stuttering in Redout 2 :
Redout 2 is a very high-paced racing game. It would be super annoying and literally impossible to play the game if it lagged or had random frame drops. Which is why we are here. I would be helping you fix any kind of performance issues with this game.
Since it is difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of the issue we would take it one step at a time :
Step 1 :
The first step would be to make sure your PC can handle this game. In other words, we have to check the requirements for this game and compare it with your PC :
Minimum:
-
- OS: Windows 10 64bit
- Processor: Intel Core i5-3470 | AMD Ryzen 3 1200
- Memory: 4 GB RAM
- Graphics: GeForce GTX 970 4 GB | AMD Radeon RX 570 4 GB
- DirectX: Version 11
- Storage: 25 GB available space
- Sound Card: DirectX compatible
Recommended :
-
- OS: Windows 10 64bit
- Processor: Intel Core i7-3770 | AMD Ryzen 5 1600
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB | AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
- DirectX: Version 12
- Network: Broadband Internet connection
- Storage: 25 GB available space
- Sound Card: DirectX compatible
These system requirements are not something I just made up. You could find them on the Redout 2 official Steam page. If you have a setup below the minimum requirements of this game then you are more likely to face performance issues like very low FPS or random FPS drops. The game may even crash.
However, a setup equivalent to the recommended or in between the minimum and the recommended requirements would be good enough for the game to run. The better the config the better the game would run. We can still manage to play around with in-game graphics settings as well to maximize performance.
Step 2 :
The next step would be to make sure you have updated Video Drivers. Check the links given below to see if you have any updates left for your graphics driver.
Essential downloads like the C++ Redistributable and Net Framework are also required. I am leaving links for them too :
Step 3 :
Turn off all background applications like Google Chrome or any other browser which uses up a lot of RAM. Overlays like Steam, Discord, and Nvidia should be turned off always if you are looking for smoother gameplay. These overlays interfere too much with your game causing your frames to drop suddenly with random pop-ups.
Step 4 :
Using Advanced Launch options could give you a significant boost in FPS :
- Open Steam and select Library
- Now select Redout 2 and then right-click on the game
- Now click on Properties
- Right next to the General Tab you will get Launch Options
- Type “-high – USEALLAVAILABLECORES “
- Restart Steam
Step 5 :
The last step that you can try could try is verifying the game files for any corrupted or missing ones. Corrupted files could easily interfere with performance :
- Go to Steam and then Library
- Select Redout 2
- Right-click and select Properties
- Now click on the Local Files Tab and then select Verify Integrity of game files.
This would take a while and once it is done check if it works fine or not. If not try and Re-Install the game.
There could also be a possibility that the issue might not be from our side at all. There had been so many games that lagged tremendously before the devs dropped a patch to fix everything. If that is the case then you might have to wait for a patch from the devs.
Like I said before, you can go ahead and follow these steps only if your PC meets the requirements. This definitely does not mean that if you have a PC equivalent to the minimum config you would be able to get full performance at maximum visuals by using the steps that I have shown. These steps will only help you get a boost only if these are the causes that are bringing down the performance of the game.
For example, if you own an RTX 3060 Ti and the game is lagging on your PC, you could try these steps to get a decent enough boost since the game is not supposed to lag with the card that you have. Now if you own a CPU an eighth-gen i3 then you would obviously have bottleneck issues that cannot be fixed unless you get a hardware upgrade. I hope I could get my point across.

This game needs some work. Getting insane stuttering and hitching on a 3600x/3070 setup and I’m pretty sure that is above the recommended specs. Fun game other than being stuck with one jalopy at the start, forced cutscenes/lore and these performance issues. I’ll give them a chance though to update the game, long as it doesn’t turn into their cr***y Space Assault thing. Loved Redout 1, this one has potential.
