BEST Graphics Settings for Starfield

Starfield is perhaps the most awaited game of 2023. The game has already made its way up as the best selling game on Steam, proving how much people wanted to try out this masterpiece.

If you are interested in space exploration, it does not get better than this. Starfield lets you travel through space and visit a thousand planets with unique vegetation and habitats.

Let’s not forget the breathtaking visuals that the game has to offer. Starfield is one of those games that tests your PC to the limit. If you wish to enjoy the beauty of the game you might have to sacrifice on the frames. At least for the average PC.

So if you’re looking for the perfect graphics settings that will give you good performance while retaining the visual quality of the game, this is the guide for you.

BEST Graphics Settings for Starfield

There is no point in doing a best graphics setting guide for beast PCs with 40 series cards. I am talking about the average PCs like the ones having 2060s.

Here is what I feel are the best Graphics settings for Starfield on an average gaming PC.

  • Borderless Fullscreen: On (It seems like Starfield has either a Windowed mode or a Borderless Fullscreen mode.)
  • Dynamic Resolution: Off (We do not want the game to automatically lower resolution during on high intensity scenes)
  • Render Resolution Scale: 60-70%
  • Shadow Quality: Low (Takes up a lot of VRAM so you set it to Low or Medium)
  • Indirect Lighting: High (Basically any lighting through a secondary light source. E.g. Flashlight.)
  • Reflections: Medium (Keeping it between Low to Medium is fine)
  • Particle Quality: High (I would recommend staying somewhere between Medium and High.)
  • Volumetric Lighting: Low (Takes up a lot of frames when you turn it to Medium or High. Keep it on Low for now.)
  • Crowd Density: Medium (The lesser the density, the better the performance. It is just the number of randomly generated NPCs in the game. )
  • Motion Blur: Low (Personal Preference. Does not impact performance)
  • GTAO Quality: Medium (Anywhere between Low to Medium is fine)
  • Grass Quality: Medium (You can try and crank this up to High as well)
  • Contact Shadows: Medium
  • VSync: Off (Limits max frames which we do not want. Also increase input delay)
  • Upsclaing: FSR2 (I personally prefer the FSR over the CAS. The image quality appears to be more realistically sharp.)
  • Sharpening: 75%
  • Enable VRS: Off
  • Film Grain Intensity: Personal Preference (does not impact performance).

There you go, that is all you need to know about the “Best Graphics Settings for Starfield”.  However, at the end of the day, it all comes down to personal preference. If you are willing to give up frames for better visuals, go ahead and play around with the settings to see what works best for you.
