Biomutant is an action adventure-style RPG with a unique combat system that focuses on martial arts. The game seems to be super fun. However, a lot of users are complaining about the game crashing on their PS4. Mostly on startup or at particular points in the game. There could be several reasons why this is happening. Therefore we will try to eliminate all of them.

We need o understand what the error code CE-34878-0 means. This error code indicates that your game has crashed and needs to be restarted. However, the reason for the crash possibly be corrupted data or an error in the database.

Local Saves :

The most common way in which corrupted data can interrupt gameplay would be the local saves. This explains why the game would crash on startup or at particular points. Removing the local saves could do the trick. this is how you do it :

  • Select Settings from the console menu
  • Look for Storage and select that
  • You will get a list. Select Saved Data
  • Now select Biomutant and then press the Options button on the controller
  • And then on the right hit Delete
  • Now select all the saved data files and hit Delete again

Defragmenting the PlayStation 4 :

Have you heard the term “Defrag your computer”? What it does is arranges data in a way that optimizes the system. Any app or game you use on the console needs access to the right data.  With database problems, these apps might not find the data at all or the process may get delayed resulting in a crash or the app performing very poorly. The PlayStation always had database issues that had to be fixed. It is good to have your database rebuilt every week or two. Do not worry as you would not lose any saves

  • Turn off the console for 5 minutes. Make sure you have the power plugged out. this clears out the system cache
  • Then plug in the power chord and hold down the power button for 8-9 seconds
  • When you hold it down you will hear a beep and also a second one after 8 seconds. This is when you should let go of the hold.
  • The Console will now boot up in Safe Mode.
  • Plug in your controller to the USB port
  • Now press the PS button
  • From the list select Rebuild Database
  • The time taken will depend on the amount of data you have stored in the console hard drive.

Face Recognition Feature is troublesome :

For some reason, this feature does not go well with gaming. It interferes with the game causing it to crash with an error code CE-34878-0. There had been instances in the past where turning off this feature actually fixed the crash problem with certain games. We recommend you have this turned off :

  • Click on Settings from the console menu
  • Move down and select Login Settings
  • Uncheck the box next to Enable Face Recognition
  • Restart your PlayStation 4.

Hopefully, these steps will help you fix any crash-related problems with Biomutant. Do let us know and also share your thoughts.
