How to Get SKINS / OUTFITS in Mortal Kombat 1 (MK1)

Mortal Kombat 1 is an amazing looking game. The environment, the special effects, and the character models look top-notch.

NetherRealm does a wonderful job when it comes to Customizations or rather Kuztomizations. There are so many different outfits and gears that enhance how your character looks.

I spend hours customizing my characters, trying to get the perfect look to show off online. It seems like MK1 gives you more options and variety with the introduction of palettes that let you change the color of an outfit.

However, a lot of users seem to be confused about how to unlock outfits and gears in the game. In this guide, we will be showing you the ways in which you can easily unlock Skins in Mortal Kombat 1.

How to Get SKINS / OUTFITS in Mortal Kombat 1 (MK1)

There are quite a few ways to unlock outfits and gear in the game.

Leveling Up Your Character:

Simply playing with your character will help you gain XP and level up that specific character. As you level up you start unlocking Gear and Skins for that particular character only. Sadly, you cannot get all the outfits like this.

Playing Seasonal Content/ Kombat League:

A Season in MK1 lasts for 48 days and every season comes with a new Kombat League. These are basically Ranked matches. The higher you rank the better your rewards. The Kombat League skins or outfits are exclusive. You cannot get it once the season is over.

Playing Invasions Mode:

Perhaps the most boring game mode ever created in a Mortal Kombat game.  It is not even free to roam. Your character can only move in a straight line determined by the game itself stopping only at checkpoints that come in the way.

I have no clue why this top-view boring RPG mode exists in the game but apparently, this is the best mode for collecting skins, palettes, and gear. As you play through the different Worlds or Mesa you get chests that give you skins when you unlock. There are also battles that reward you with outfits and gear.

The Dragon Shrine:

Remember the Shrine in the Krypt back in MK11 where we submitted gold for skins? It is the same thing but now you don’t have to get inside the Krypt. On the main menu go to Extras and select Shrine.

Submit coins for skins and gear. Most of the time it would be just artwork. It is more like a gamble for 1000 coins. Don’t expect to get good skins from the shrine. You would only be wasting your coins.

The Store:

The Store gives you great skins and gear as well based on Seasonal themes. However, you would need in-game currency like Blood Crystals and Platinum to buy them. While on the main menu click the Store shortcut button displayed at the bottom right of the screen.

There you go, that is all on “How to Get SKINS / OUTFITS in Mortal Kombat 1 (MK1)”.
