Mortal Kombat 1 (MK1) Updated TIER LIST

Mortal Kombat 1 is one of the best MK games of the franchise. It reminds me a lot of MKX where you could pull off 50% combos like they were nothing. I love that you improvise so much with the combos and there are very few scenarios that might restrict you.

The Kameos add so much variety to the gameplay that you cannot actually say a certain character is super bad in the game. However, you can clearly notice a huge difference in the moveset for these characters. Some of them are really good with a lot of low and overhead mixups while some are just average to be fair.

In this guide today, we will be talking about the Mortal Kombat 1 Tier List.

Mortal Kombat 1 (MK1) Updated TIER LIST

Before we hop into the Tier List you need to remember one thing. Every character has some dirt and if you do not know the matchup you might not stand a chance against even the weakest of the characters in the roster.

After having labbed almost every character in the game and spending over 100 hours playing online against different users, I did gain the knowledge and the understanding to put these characters in their respective tiers.

None of these characters are bad. It is just that some of them can just outdo the others by a little margin. This is the most balanced an MK game has been and with Kameos you can easily make up for the shortcomings of your character.

While characters like Smoke have tons of overhead and low mixups, Liu Kang has one. He does have an over and a low but both come from the 2nd hit of a string so you will be able to guess. Playing Liu Kang would take some serious skill though.

Similarly, Raiden is the best pick for starters. If you want high damage with the easiest of combos, Raiden is your pick. he has a lot of mixups that game him pretty good.

I am not considering how good a character can be in the hands of a pro player like Sonic Fox or NinjaKilla. I am simply making this tier list based on what the overall player base can do.

Also, it does not mean the ones in the bottom tier are bad characters and you cannot play with them. They are just not as good as the ones on the top. An average player would do better if he was given Raiden over Liu Kang.

The ones in the S tier are literally overpowered at this point in the game. Ashrah along with Sareen is perhaps the deadliest combo you can come across online. Ashrah is known for her range and if she manages to poke you once from a distance, you are going for an easy 40%.

Johnny Cage is the toughest character to play with. However, his mixups are incredible. He can launch you from both overhead and low and you can even react to it. He can anti-zone you, and on top of that, he has a crazy frame advantage in most of his strings.

Kenshi is undoubtedly one of the most annoying and confusing characters to play against. His Sento Stance confuses even the best of players.

As I said before, every character has their own strengths and weaknesses. There is no bad character at the moment.

That is all on “Mortal Kombat 1 (MK1) Updated TIER LIST
