Project Cars 3 – Not Downloading / Downloading Error Fix

We are quite eager to try out  Project Cars 3. But a lot of users complained about downloading problems. The download will just freeze at 0 or an error would just pop up.

So what can we do to resume a frozen download? Let’s check it out.

Project Cars 3 – Not Downloading / Downloading Error Fix

Just follow these simple steps in order to fix any download-related issues :

Be Patient:

Patience is all we need at times. Steam takes a while to allocate disk space for a game on your drive. The time it takes basically depends on the size of the game.

In the case of Project Cars 3, the game is like 50GB so it would take a while before the download actually begins. Wait for like 5-10 minutes. Or click on the Play option and you will find a Bar that gets filled up with time. If that bar is stuck in the same place for like 5- 10 minutes then you can go ahead and follow the steps given below.

Restart Steam Client and Reboot PC :

You can start by restarting Steam. Normally issues like this get fixed quite often by a simple restart. However, if in case you still find the same thing try rebooting your PC.

Restarting the system would delete all kinds of system caches and resets the system along with all the programs.

Clear Out all Download Caches:

This would allow the Steam client to clear out all locally cached files and config data and receive it from the Steam servers again :

  • Open Steam Client
  • Go to the Steam option located on the top left of your client.
  • Click on Settings.
  • On the Left Panel click on Downloads
  • Then Click on Clear Download Cache

Repair Your Steam Library Folder:

Your steam folder requires certain user permissions for granting access. It has to be writable by all users. Sometimes these permissions would not work which breaks off the links and it needs to be reset. Here is how you do it.

  • Open Steam Client
  • Go to the Steam option located on the top left
  • Click on Settings.
  • On the Left Side Bar click on Downloads
  • Click on Steam Library Folders
  • Right-click on the folder you have Steam installed and select Repair Library Folder

Changing Download Region to another one that is working:

Steam has set up servers that are divided into specific geographic locations or regions which helps users to get better download speeds and better overall performance. Sometimes the servers in this region are slow or overloaded with users. Sometimes it could also be blocked due to a technical error.

In such cases, steam gives us the liberty to change our server to any region which we can choose from the list of steam servers all over the world. If the download is frozen, we can change the server and see if it resumes or not. Here is how.

  • Open Steam Client
  • Go to the Steam option located on the top left of your client.
  • Click on Settings.
  • On the Left Side Bar click on Downloads
  • Under Download Region you have a drop-down arrow that you need to click and scroll. Select a region of your choice (you have to try multiple regions to choose from. Try them out and see which works best)
  • Restart Steam.

Reinstall Steam Client :

If the download error still persists or if the download is still frozen the last option would be to Reinstall Steam. Here is how you do it.

  • Type Control Panel on your windows search bar.
  • Select Programs and Features
  • Look for Steam and Right Click on it and select Uninstall
  • You can Reinstall Steam from here

These steps will definitely help in solving any downloading-related problems you might be facing on Steam. Enjoy the game.
