Wondering why Returnal keeps crashing on your PlayStation 5? Let’s find out why this happens and how we can easily fix this.

Returnal PS5 – Game Crashing with Error Code | How to Fix

For many users, the game would just crash randomly often with an error code CE-108255-1. The PlayStation 5 since its launch had had database problems. The only reason this error code would pop up during the game is when the required data is unavailable to run the game.

This happens when the storage device is not defragmented. Data in your storage device needs to be arranged in a proper way so that the apps you run could process the required data. If there are problems with this arrangement of data the console will perform slowly and games would often crash and stutter.

In order to fix any database-related issues , follow these simple steps :

  • Unplug the power cable from the console. There should not be any lights on the console
  • Then wait for like 5 minutes. This will clear out all Cached data.
  • Plug the cable back. Then press and hold the power button for 8-9 seconds.
  • You will hear a beep when you press it for the first time and one more after 8 seconds.
  • Now plug in the controller to the USB
  • The console will boot in Safe Mode.
  • On the screen, you will find several options. Select Rebuild Database
  • The time taken will depend on the amount of data in your storage device

You do not have to worry as you will not lose any saved data. It is just that the existing data will be re-arranged. If this step does not work for you then you may try to reinstall the game. Corrupted game data files could also be the reason. A fresh installation could do the trick.
