TEKKEN 8- Arcade Stick/ Fighting Stick Not Responding in Menus: Arcade Sticks or Fighting Sticks are extremely popular amongst fighting game veterans. Normally players who had been a part of the Arcade culture back in the 90s would always prefer an Arcade Stick over any other input device for Tekken 8.
The reason is simple, this is what they have used since childhood and they feel comfortable with it. You would also find the majority of fighting game players in tournaments using the Fighting Stick.
So if you are new to Tekken and you want to master the fight stick, it would certainly take a while but it is worth it.
Tekken 8 requires a lot of precision inputs and that is the reason why the fight stick is no longer common for newcomers. However, the ones who are trying it out for the first time might be encountering a bug or rather a problem navigating through the Menus with the arcade stick.
If you are one of them, there is nothing to worry about as it is a very common problem and can easily be fixed.
TEKKEN 8- Arcade Stick / Fighting Stick / Joystick Not Responding in Menus | FIX
Arcade stick users would normally be confused as to why they can use their fight sticks in the match but not in the menus.
The Joystick on these devices are programmed to behave as Analog Sticks which prevents you from navigating through Menus. However, some fighting sticks have a dedicated button that will let you change the input style to D-Pad or Directional Pad. This lets you move around in menus and fight at the same time.
For the ones who do not have that specific button on their fighting stick, life can be hard. You would probably have to use a regular gamepad or a keyboard to navigate through the menus and play the match with the stick.
To make your Fighting Stick work in the menus as well, follow these simple steps:
- Go to Steam Library
- Look for Tekken 8. Don’t click on Play.
- Connect your Fighting Stick.
- Click on the View Settings option on the right side.
- Click on Enable Steam Input
- Go to Edit Layout
- Select Joystick on the left
- Next to Joystick Behaviour select Direction Pad instead of Joystick.
- Assign the directions accordingly to the stick movement.
- Restart Steam.
If this does not work, try these steps instead:
- Go to Tekken 8 in your Steam Library.
- Click on the View Settings option on the right side.
- Click on Enable Steam Input
- Select the Current Layout that you have. It will show as the official layout along with your profile name and
- From the top select Community Layouts
- Look for a layout that lets you navigate through menus. Check the description and the number of likes.
- Click on the Layout to Download it.
- Click on Apply Layout to use it.
This will surely fix the problem.
