TEKKEN 8- Best Character for Beginners

Tekken is undoubtedly the toughest fighting game ever made. While you could have fun playing against friends, some people take the game very seriously. Tekken is one of those games that is easy to learn but extremely difficult to master.

So if you are new to Tekken 8 and confused about which character to pick, you have come to the right place. In this guide, we will be helping you decide whom you should go for as a beginner character in Tekken 8.

TEKKEN 8- Best Character for Beginners

Choosing the perfect character for you could be difficult especially when you have not discovered your playstyle yet. However, I have put together a list of easy beginner friendly characters that you could choose from:

Leroy:

I remember back in Tekken 7 when Leroy first dropped, he was cracked. There was no answer to him and after almost a thousand nerfs on him, he was kind of balanced in the game.

Still, arguably a top-tier character who hardly requires any serious skill to play, the Wing Chung master is one of the best beginner-friendly fighters in the Tekken 8 roster.

Paul:

Paul is the definition of strength in Tekken. One of the legacy characters and is also one of the most picked fighters on the roster. The simple reason for this is his “hard-hitting no kidding” playstyle that everyone loves.

His death fist hits like a truck and his combos can deal an insane amount of damage. He is also one of the safest characters in the roster with good enough frames on his moves.

Law:

The Bruce Lee of Tekken, Law is a master of the Jeet Kune Do style of fighting. Also one of the legacy characters, he has some serious quickness to him. He is an “easy-to-learn and difficult-to-master” kind of character.

His DSS (Dragon Sign Stance) could be tricky for beginners but you can also live without it at the initial ranks. However, learning DSS could keep you engaged with the character for a longer period which is why I would recommend picking him as a beginner fighter.

Zafina:

Zafina is a little complicated but still one of the best characters in the roster. Her movement is amazing and combined with her 50/50 setups and counter-hit tools, makes her annoying to deal with.

If you are okay with using a complicated character with tons of mixups go ahead and pick her. Some of her moves are extremely evasive and can easily reward you when timed correctly.

Leo:

Leo is a very interesting character especially because of his unique Bajiquan fighting style. She has two stances that could be tricky at first but with some amount of practice, it won’t bother you much.

The character has great range and mixups that could help you win against decent opponents as well.

Feng:

An extremely strong character that could teach you the fundamentals of the game. Feng’s poking is the best in the roster and is arguably one of the top-tier fighters in Tekken 8. His combos are easy to do as well.

His stances and overall novelist could be a little confusing at first but you will eventually learn as you play him.

King:

King has a pretty long moveset and mastering him could take a long time. He is undoubtedly the best grappler in the game and if you are fond of freestyle wrestling you will love this character.

His basic gameplan is very easy to execute and as you play with him you will eventually learn all his difficult setups and grapple combos.

Lars:

Lars is known for being flamboyant and flashy.  If you are new to Tekken and you come across a decent Lars online, you will immediately change your character because of how impressed you would be with the character’s moveset.

His stances are easy to pull off and has one of the best wall carries in the game. His combos are also easy to do and he is stronger than he was back in Tekken 7.

You must be wondering why I haven’t put the main characters Jin and Kazuya on the list. Well, it is simply because they are tough to play. Most of their crucial moves include crouch and wave dashing which could be difficult for beginners.

Tekken 8 gives you 32 different playable characters with their strengths and weaknesses. The best way to select a character for yourself is to see which one you are comfortable with, or the one that looks cool or appeals to you most.

If you are fond of your beginner character, you will eventually want to learn more. With that being said, your best friend is the Practice Mode. Hit the lab and try out different characters to find which one is the best for you.

Or if you just want to pick one to start with, pick from any of the ones I have mentioned above. If you ask me to choose from the list I would either pick Paul, Law, or Leroy. They are the best examples of beginner characters who are super strong as well.
